The New Presenter of Blind Date is… Bet on your favourite!

Blind Date, ITV’s long running dating show is set to make a comeback next year after 5 years. Last seen on ITV in 2003, Blind Date managed to entertain us for 18 years. I’m sure that you all remember the host Cilla Black who had a lorra lorra fun at the contestants expense.

In May 2003, after spotting that the show was losing it’s viewers and the format was too tired, Cilla quit, and ITV stopped making the show.

However there’s been a report in the Sun which claims the ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Finch is hoping to bring back the show next year. Apparently it will be produced by Syco Television, Simon Cowell’s production company which is responsible for X Factor and Britain’s GOt Talent. Does this mean that the contestants will have to audition for the Blind Date to pick? Will there be a panel of judges to help them choose their date? Who knows…

One thing that is almost certain, it will not feature Cilla Black, or ‘Our Graham’ – who was ditched duringt he revamp to increase viewers.

With the prospect of no Cilla as presenter, there’s a lot of speculation about who the new presenter could be. Paddy Power have even opened a book to enable bets to be taken on who the new presenter will be.

The commentators over at Digital Spy have Davina McCall as favorite to take on the role of matchmaker, and I must confess, I think she’ll be great in the role (just imagine the post date interviews). However Paddy Power have a different idea of who is their favourite for the job. They are offering 3/1 odds on Holly Willoughby filling Cilla’s shoes, whereas Davina has odds of 5/1. Dermot O’Leary is in third place with odds of 8/1, which is fairly good considering he already has a contract with Syco and ITV for X-Factor.

The other giants of ITV Saturday night TV, yes I’m talking of Ant & Dec also lie at 8/1. Another couple who could take the job are Tess Daley and Vernon Kay, if you fancy them as the new presenters, then you can get 16/1 on your bet.

Paddy Power have not ruled out Cilla as a possible contender for her old job, you can get 20/1. in the outsider position, there are several unlikely choices, though would make a great presenter for the show, including Jerry Springer (50/1), Kelly Osbourne (80/1) and Cameron Diaz (500/1).
