The Superbike World Championship returns to America for the 6th round of the Championship, hosted at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. After a difficult race in Monza, Carlos Checa is eager to put some points on the board to secure his second place in the Championship standings. In the same race, Ryuichi Kiyonari turned the continuous progress he showed throughout the last rounds into a maiden podium appearance.
After two gutsy rides at Monza, Noriyuki Haga has now moved into overall third in the championship table. Haga only just lost the battle in race one by less than six-hundredths of a second, before going on to win the second race by just 0.009 seconds. The 33-year-old Japanese star is ready for more podium success at the new venue of Miller Motorsports Park, near Salt Lake City.
Troy Corser has not found the 2008 season a straightforward challenge, slipping to sixth after Monza in a closely contest for second spot in the rankings. The latest new venue of Miller Motorsports Park should hold no fears for a rider with two world championships to his name. Shinichi Nakatomi had his best overall race weekend of the season so far at Monza, taking 12th and 13th place finishes having improved his overall machine set-up.
Sebastien Gimbert also had two points-scoring finishes at the challenging Monza track and at a venue with several high-speed corners, is going all out to move up from his current position of 23rd in the overall standings.
