Weekend Preview 17th November

Saturday’s International Football

Saturday sees the start of the Euro 2008 Qualifiers, and the most significant game of the day is at Hampden Park, where Scotland host world champions Italy (live on Sky Sports 1, k/o 5:00pm). Scotland have been fantastic during this qualification campaign, having acquired 24 points in 11 games, no mean feat considering this group contained Ukraine, France and Italy. Even a mid-campaign management change couldn’t derail Scotland, with Alex McLeish continuing the good work of Walter Smith.

World Champions Italy are not a side to underestimate, with a squad full of experienced, world class players such as Gattuso, Pirlo and Luca Toni, they will challenge to the very end but with Scotland priced at 14/5 (centrebet) the present odds appear good value for Scotland to pull off a surprise win; perhaps a selection for the more adventurous punter!

BGbet are also offering to refund all losing first goalscorer bets on Scotland v Italy if Kenny Miller scores at anytime in this match.

Also on Saturday, we have a clash between two home nations, with Wales v Rep. of Ireland at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff (live on Sky Sports 3, k/o 3:00pm). Although neither team can qualify for Euro 2008, the winner of this match would finish third in Group D and they would be placed as a higher seed in the World Cup 2010 qualification group draw, resulting in an easier route to the World Cup Finals. Both sides have much to prove, as both have performed poorly during the Qualifiers, and this will be a great opportunity to give their fans something to shout about. Bookmakers believe that either side could walk away with the win, with VC Bet pricing both teams at 6/4; this promises to be a close game.

VC Bet are offering enhanced doubles and multiples offers, so if you want to team up Rep. of Ireland, Scotland and England, VC Bet are offering odds of 15/1 that they all win their matches and 10/1 that Doyle and McFadden score at anytime during the Wales v Rep. of Ireland and Scotland v Italy matches.

The final home nation match this weekend sees N. Ireland take on Denmark at Windsor Park (Live on BBC Interactive, k/o 7:45pm). N. Ireland have performed brilliantly during the Qualifiers, having beaten the likes of Spain, Sweden and notching a draw away to Denmark, and they will be hoping to get 4 points out of 6 from their opponents. The bookmakers have priced Denmark as favourites for this match, with centrebet offering 11/10 for a Danish win, meanwhile with N. Ireland are priced at 9/4 (Betterbet), it may be worth having a flutter on a home win.

Remember there are a number of free bet offers available online. Such as BGbet and Betterbet’s £25 free bets for all new customers, centrebet’s £20 free bet new customer offer and VC Bet’s bet £50 get a free £50 bet, place another 5 bets of £10 or more and get another £50 free bet promotion. So, if you fancy a bet on the Internationals this weekend, why not take advantage of one or more of these fantastic sign up offers.

Weekend Racing Highlights

We have some fantastic National Hunt racing from Cheltenham this weekend where the feature race is the Paddy Power Gold Cup on Saturday at 2:35pm. This is the first real big betting race of the 2008 jumps season and has been won over the years by some top class horses including Half Free, Very Promising and Cyfor Malta. This year’s race promises to be just as thrilling, with strong contenders such as Don’t Push It and L’Antartique vying for top spot, this great race is bound to unearth another star or two in this season’s renewal.
