Golf Betting: Ohio Memorial Tournament

GOLF – OHIO MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – May 29th to June 1st

LATEST NEWS

Tiger Woods will miss the 33rd Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, at traditional warm up for the U.S. Open in which the 13-times major winner was hoping to play in his rehabilitation from knee surgery. However, Woods’ name was missing from the official entry list for the $6 million event. Woods, a three times Memorial Champion has now not played since finishing second in the Masters. He underwent his third operation on the knee shortly afterwards. The only other time Woods missed the Memorial was in 2006 following the death of his father. Six golfers who competed in the recent BMW PGA Championship have signed up to compete at the Memorial. Others making the trip across the Atlantic Ocean include Paul Casey, Richard Green, Anton Haig, James Kingston, Justin Rose and Graeme Storm. Casey and Rose have dual membership of the PGA and European Tours.

Two players put 100% cut marks on the line. Jim Furyk has never missed playing the weekend in eleven starts in the Memorial, while Steve Stricker has played eight consecutive Sundays and is a former winner. Kenny Perry makes his twentieth outing at the Memorial and this twice winner was only one over par for his last sixteen holes in 2007, en route to a tie for third place, shooting 67-63 at the weekend. Heath Slocum has played the weekend at the last four PGA events, with two top-ten finishes. However, he has opted to miss the Memorial, allowing Charles Warren to make his debut. The last playoff at Muirfield Village occurred in 1992 when David Edwards defeated Rick Fehr. Sergio Garcia’s victory in “extra-time” at the Players’ Championship has moved the Memorial Tournament to the head of the list of PGA events that has gone the longest without extra holes being required.

BETTING

Aside from outright betting, prices seem a little thin on the ground with the online layers. This may be due to the fact that the event runs concurrently with the Celtic Manor Open. Hopefully, the pricing situation will improve once the tournament gets underway.
