Golf: BMW PGA Championship – Latest Betting news from Wentworth

GOLF – WENTWORTH BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP – MAY 22nd to 25th

KEY PLAYERS

A cracking field turns out for the European Tour’s flagship event, the PGA Championship at Wentworth, headed by world No. 3 Ernie Els and No. 9 Vijay Singh with four Europeans from the top 20, Luke Donald, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Lee Westwood, topping the supporting cast.

Ernie Els
The “big easy” is a 7-time World Match Play champion, but has not won the PGA in 12 attempts. He managed to produce his best ever finish at the Players Championship (6th) which is encouraging. He also boasts 3 runner-up spots and 2 fourths in this event

Angel Cabrera
Despite being woefully out of form, Cabrera seems a different player at Wentworth. The 2006 US Open champion won this in 2005, finished runner-up in 2001 and 2004 and took a share of fifth money last year. He’ll definitely be up for this and his massive strength gives him a big advantage out of the rough.

Henrik Stenson
Fresh from tenth place at Sawgrass, where he was second-best European after Garcia, and sixth in the Asian Open, straight-hitting Henrik should steer a path away from the vicious rough, which is at four-and-a-half inches this year, and hold his own on fast, firm greens that are running at 11.2 on the stimpmeter. Second on the money list, Stenson started the season brilliantly with two seconds and a sixth in the Desert Swing, reached the Accenture semis where he pushed Tiger Woods all the way, then produced a top 20 at Augusta and an even classier effort at the Players, so it will come as a surprise if he does not get in the shake-up.
