Golf: Italian Open (Milan) Betting preview

His mother’s wish for him to win his first Ryder Cup cap in September means Nick Dougherty, devastated by her death nine days ago, will play in the Italian Open in Milan. Dougherty’s manager said, “Nick’s mum wanted him to do all he could to try to make the Ryder Cup team and so, after much consideration, Nick has decided to stick to his planned playing schedule for the year.” Bookmakers have priced Dougherty up as market leader, but how he will perform on an extremely testing and emotional week remains to be seen.

Mark Foster has gone five years now since his lone victory in Europe. After a poor start to 2008, he showed some decent form for 54 holes in Seville, before a closing round 76. He has finished in the top 20 twice in the last three years, in Milan. He is hitting more “Greens In Regulation” than ever, but the putter has gone a bit cold.

Andrew McLardy returns to Milan seemingly on pretty good terms with his game and an excellent track record to boot. His last three appearances here have yielded form figures of T6-T12-T7 and some familiar surroundings, which have seen him shoot on average of 68.54 in 11 rounds, could finally means he gets himself over the winning line in front.
