Premiership Preview 2nd March

Bolton v Liverpool

Bolton will have to ensure that their exploits in the UEFA Cup do not hamper their survival bid in the Premiership, and a stern test of their resolve will come in the form of Liverpool, who are the visitors at the Reebok Stadium for the Sunday lunchtime kickoff. both tema’s ambitions couldn’t be more different – Liverpool sit just outside the Fourth Champions League place, whilst Bolton hover just above the relegation zone. A win is crucial for both, a draw not good enough.

Bolton are in danger of beginning a bad run, having lost their last two – The last time they lost three in a row was their first three games of the season. Liverpool’s form is nothing to shout home about either – They’ve only won 2 of their last 8 Premiership ties, and have drawn far too many matches this season to be in contention with the other three of the so-called “Big Four”.

Liverpool are the bookies favourites for this match, with skybet pricing the Reds at just 5/6, whilst VC Bet have the best available odds for a Bolton Win at 19/5. totesport have the draw at 11/4.

Everton v Portsmouth

Two teams currently on course for their best-ever seasons in the Premiership come head-to-head at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon in the proverbial six-pointer that will go a long way towards deciding the fourth Champions League place – A win for Pompey, and they’ll be breathing down Everton’s necks with ten games to go, whilst if David Moyes’ men can muster a victory, they will have a nine-point cushion between the two teams.

Everton remain unbeaten in 2008, with five wins and two draws to their name, conceding just one goal in the last seven matches. Portsmouth meanwhile have won their last three matches in a row, and have already notched up eight away victories, a record only equalled by Chelsea – It promises to be a cracker at Goodison.

The best odds for Everton to win can be found at  totesport (10/11), whilst the odds on offer from VC Bet or a Pompey win (39/10) must be tempting given their away record. Boylesports currently have the best odds for the draw (5/2)
