Carling Cup Final Betting: Chelsea v Tottenham
Frank Lampard and John Terry are both named in Avram Grant’s squad for the Carling Cup Final on Sunday, but could both be left out of the starting lineup to face Spurs in the first Carling Cup final to be played at Wembley.
Spurs meanwhile have a decision to make as to whether to continue with Paul Robinson in goal, who pulled off a string of excellent saves to see them through to the next round of the UEFA Cup in midweek after being dropped for the previous ten games. When questioned by journalists after the Slavia game, Spurs boss Juande Ramos refused to be drawn over whether Robinson would start ahead of Radek Cerny.
Chelsea will be looking to retain the trophy following their 2-1 win over London rivals Arsenal last year, which would be the sixth time the cup has been retained – Nottingham Forest were the first to manage it in 1979, and they were followed by Liverpool, wo retained the trophy at Anfield for four consecutive years from 1981 to 1984.
Both teams are currently on a rich vein of form: Chelsea are currently unbeaten in 16 matches, and have only been defeated in three of Avram Grant’s 34 matches in charge of the Blues. Spurs meanwhile are unbeaten in five games, with their only defeat in the last nine matches being their FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United. Their last Premiership loss was… against Chelsea in January!

Carling Cup winner (Regardless of extra time, penalties etc)
Too often, people want to bet on who will win the cup, and end up losing their bet because the match itself finished as a draw after 90 minutes, with the team going on to win the cup in extra time or on penalties. It’s therefore worth considering this bet, which is on the eventual winner only, regardless of how they win the cup.
Currently the best odds available are Chelsea to win the Carling Cup at 4/7 with Boyle Sports, whislt the odds for Spurs to win the Carling Cup at currently 6/4 with Stan James.
