Newcastle United Relegation Odds

Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, Newcastle United were installed as one of the favourites to regain promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt. However with the new season mere weeks away, and Newcastle still without a permanent manager, half the squad on premiership wages, no prospect of exciting new signings and an owner willing to take a £200m loss just to get rid of the club, many are starting to look at the other end of the table for some possible value.

And that’s before you even factor in the new “lemon sherbets” away kit..

It’s not unusual for teams to suffer consecutive relegations, although normally the parachute payments from the premiership delay this for a couple of seasons (as fans of Leeds, Forest, Leicester, Southampton, Charlton, Norwich will tell you), but in Newcastle’s case, their plight is already incredibly fragile, and if they get off to a bad start, they could face an uphill struggle to stay in the Championship, let alone challenge for promotion!

At the time of writing, odds of up to 25/1 were on offer (VC Bet) on Newcastle to be relegated – pretty good value IMO. It remains an unlikely event, but then it’s a more realistic bet than the 4/1 on the Toon Army winning the league! skybet are offering 22/1 and Bet 365 20/1.

We’ll keep the table above updated with all the latest Championship relegation odds, so keep an eye out throughout the season, and see how wrong we were, as Doncaster romp to the title and Middlesbrough, Ipswich and QPR drop to League One with record low points tallies..
